After Valverde scored, he ran to Ancelotti and Ancelotti gave him a hug. According to Spanish media, Ancelotti said to Valverde: "I told you, I told you."

In the post-match interview, Valverde also thanked Ancelotti: "He often told me to practice shooting, (to overcome) the mentality of being embarrassed to take the ball... His encouragement helped me, I must thank him, today's goal belongs to him."
