Beckenbauer died on January 7, 2024 at the age of 78. His death has triggered mourning among football fans all over the world. It is reported that in order to commemorate this legendary figure, the address of the Allianz Arena will be named Beckenbauer Square 5.

At present, the Munich Municipal Government has approved the renaming of the address of the Allianz Arena and the area in front of the stadium to "Beckenbauer Square 5" in memory of the late Beckenbauer.
