Schmeichel: I was very surprised that Szczesny retired, I hope he can change his mind

Legendary Danish goalkeeper Schmeichel talked about Szczesny's retirement in an interview with Viaplay. He was surprised and hoped that he would change his mind and come back.

Szczesny announced his retirement at the end of August, which was beyond most people's expectations. The goalkeeper also played well for Juventus last season and received an offer from Arsenal this summer, but he still did not plan to continue his career.

When Schmeichel was asked by reporters how he felt about Szczesny's retirement, he said: "I am very surprised. He is only 34 years old. When I was his age, I played football for another 6 years."

Schmeichel said that he hopes Szczesny can come back: "I don't know why he made such a decision. He has always been an excellent world-class goalkeeper. This is really strange. I really hope he can change his mind."
